A fine knock of 90 runs with 12 fours and a six by Eraj Jayamanne and
good bowling by spinners Malinga Gunaratne 5 for 22 and Prince Juliard 4
for 12 helped St Mary's College, Kegalle, to score a 135 run win over
Sri Rahula College, Katugastota in their inter school cricket match
played at the Kegalle Esplanade over the weekend.
The match at the end of the first day appeared to be evenly balanced
but on the second day, an expected collapse for 61 runs by Sri Rahula
College resulted in the Marians romping home winners by 135 runs.
Marian left arm spinner C Karunaratne also bowled well to capture 5
for 38 in Sri Rahula's first innings.
For Sri Rahula College off spinner Rajitha Ranatunga had a match haul
of 9 for 69 but could not prevent his side from sliding to defeat.
