Rogue radio station busted
Kalpitiya Police yesterday discovered a radio
station which had been operating from a secret chamber in the
Kalpitiya Market complex in the heart of Kalpitiya town. This radio
station covering an area of 15 km from the Kalpitiya town was
operating without a valid licence from the Telecommunications
Regulatory Commission.

Suspects further remanded
Nugegoda Acting Magistrate Tissa Wijeratne
yesterday further remanded four suspects including Sakvithi
Ranasinghe alias Abhaya Ranasinghe Mudiyanselage Chandana
Weerakumara Ranasinghe till November 01 in connection with the case
involving swindling of over Rs. 1 billion from 2,014 depositors.
