Rajans held to a draw

Sri Sumangala College, Panadura held Dharmaraja College, Kandy to a draw in their rain affected inter-school cricket match concluded at Lake View Grounds Kandy over the week.

Highlight of the match was a forceful knock of 87 with 9 fours and a six by Rajans opener Sasith Gunasekera. He was supported by skipper Himal Munaweeera who made 54 with 8 fours. This pair put on 76 for the fifth wicket which boosted the Rajans total after they were 80 for 4 at one stage.

For Sri Sumangala College leg Spinner Lalin Dilanka bowled well to capture 6 for 57.

Sri Sumangala College 189 all out in 71.1 overs (Aruna Dharmasena 53, Manju Tharaka 21, Nuwan Karunaratne 3 for 41, Arvinda Withanarachchi 2 for 33, Deneth Lanka 4 for 59) and 58 for 2 in 15 overs at close (Aruna Dharmasena 36, Sameera Dharshana 15 not out, Arvinda Withanarachchi 2 for 2)

Dharmaraja College 226 for 9 declared in 77 overs (Sasith Gunasekera 87, Hemal Munaweera 54, S K Nakkawita 18, Nuwan Karunaratne 21, Lalin Dilanka 6 for 57 Ishara Thenuwara 2 for 40)
