Recari wins first US LPGA title
Spain's Beatriz Recari captured her first US LPGA title on Sunday,
shrugging off difficult damp conditions and a late bogey for a one-shot
victory over France's Gwladys Nocera.
Recari, a 23-year-old in her rookie season on the US circuit, carded
a two-under 70 for a 14-under par total of 274.
Green claims Portugal Masters
Australia's Richard Green capitalised on overnight leader Pablo
Martin's misfortune to win the Portugal Masters here on Sunday.
Green, seven shots off the Spaniard after Saturday's third round, had
an eventful final round with 11 birdies and four bogeys for a seven
under par 65 for an 18 under par total of 270.
Murray back to winning ways
Andy Murray buried remnants of his 2010 slump in indisputable fashion
Sunday with a crushing 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Roger Federer to win a second
Masters trophy of the season with victory in Shanghai. It took less than
90 minutes for the fourth-ranked Murray to completely re-write his 2010
scenario.
Tamarine beats Krumm to win Japan Open
Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn won the the singles crown at the Japan
Women's Open tennis tournament Sunday, dashing Kimiko Date Krumm's bid
to become the oldest player to win a tour title. The 33-year-old Thai
ace, the runner-up here in 2001 took the match with a 7-5, 6-7 (4/7),
6-1 victory. |
