Sri Lanka Air Force and Youth Services Council clinched the men’s and
women’s championships of the 26th Youth Services-Rupavahini super league
volleyball tournament respectively on Sunday.
The tournament was held at the Youth Centre, Indoor Stadium,
Maharagama, under the patronage of Youth Affairs Minister Dallas
Alahapperuma.
A total of 80 teams participated in the tournament. In the men’s
final, Airmen met the Sri Lanka Navy team, while the women’s final saw
the Youth Services Council and Casual Line, Mawatagama in battle.
There were two divisions of the tournament namely the youth clubs
volleyball tournament and super league volleyball tournament.
The finals of the youth clubs tournament was held on October 16 at
the same venue.
Super league tournament
At the finals, Youth Services (women’s) team recorded a easy victory
by winning first three sets. Men’s final was a tough game but Air Force
team scoring 25-20, 23-25, 25-17 and 25-15 won the championship.

Best Setter (women): M D A Krishanthi (Kalutara).
Best Dasher (women): J N N P Thennakoon (Kurunegala).
Best Setter (men): Dhanushka Attanayake (Gampaha).
Best Dasher (men): U A N Neluka Perera (Gampaha).
Super league tournament
Best Spiker (men): Thilanga Rukshan (Air Force).
Best Player (women): Madushika Ratnasiri.
Best Server: Sudesh Chamila (Navy).
Best Receiver: Nuwan Chamika (Air Force).
Best Setter: Kasun Chaturanga (Navy).
Best Dasher: Nirmal Chaturanga (Air Force).
Best Defender: M Renoki (Air Force).
Best Ground Defender: Dhanuska Udayanga (Navy). |
