Free health service:
UK Parliamentarians commend Lanka

The UK Parliamentarians’ delegation now in Sri Lanka to study the
free health service of the country had commended Sri Lanka for offering
free health service for the public for 75 years, a Health Ministry
spokesman said.
According to the spokesman the delegation had praised the Sri Lanka’s
free health service for 75 years as a developing country while there is
no such service in developed countries.
They also praised Sri Lanka for eradicating some diseases and
improving the condition nearing to eradicate few other diseases such as
TB and Malaria.
The delegation held discussions with Health Ministry officials.
The deligation consists of the Labour Party MP Paul Murphy,
Conservative Party Deputy Leader Stephen Hammond, MPs David Amess,
Dholakia OBE DL, Helen Grant, Bruce Grocott, Fiona O’Donell, Mohamed
Iltaf Sheikh, Emma Reynolds, CPA UK Branch Secretary Andrew Tuggey and
the Secretary to the delegation Hatty Cooper . |
