Water project:
Over 380,000 to benefit
The Kandy South Water Supply project implemented by the Community
Water Supply and Sanitation project was commissioned by Prime Minister D
M Jayaratne in association with Water Supply and Drainage Minister
Dinesh Gunawardena Sunday.
The project costing Rs 9,336 million will benefit 383,600 people in
the area. It includes the Pusselagama Rural Water Supply project,
Gampola Atabage water purification plant, Navadevita Community Water
Supply project, the Gampola Water Tower and the Consumer service centre
of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
A Water Supply and Drainage Board spokesman said the new water supply
project would cater to the water supply needs of people in Yatinuwara,
Udu Nuwara, Gangawata Korale, Uda Palatha, Sakkaran Kotuwa, Gampola,
Nawalapitiya road, Rathmalkaduwa, Keerapane, Gampolawela, Hapugaspitiya,
Dolosbage, Gampola-Kadugannawa road, Mariyawatta, Ambagamuwa road,
Sinhapitiya, Nidahas Mawatha, Dharmakeerthi Mawatha and Hemmathagama.

Earl Gunasekara and A R M Abdul Cader were also present on the occasion. |
