Manju to be feted

Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Manju Wanniarachchi will be honoured by his Alma Mater Vidyartha College, Kandy at a felicitation ceremony at the school premises today.

Prime Minister D M Jayaratne, Mass Media and Communication Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, Parliamentarians and past pupils of Vidyartha College will receive Wanniarachchi when he arrives at the Getambe Playground in a Sri Lanka Air Force helicopter at 9.30 am.

Thereafter he will be conducted to Kandy in a special motorcade.

At the Kandy clock tower he will be received by the Kandy Traders' Association and conducted to Vidyartha College in a procession led by police horse riders and school bands.
