Under repayment plan:
Golden Key depositors paid over Rs 750 m

The Golden Key depositors have been paid over Rs 750 million upto
date under the Golden Key depositors' repayment plan, a member of the
Supreme Court appointed Committee of Chartered Accountants told Daily
News Business.

The GKCG Special Purpose Vehicle (Pvt) Ltd., (GKCGSPV) will be formed
as a company to manage the assets of the Golden Key Group and the
depositors will be the shareholders of this company.
"The management of the company will consist of people from good
calibre with the knowledge on managing a company. The depositors if they
think they are suitable for the management could nominate themselves to
be in the management," he said.
Speaking to the Daily News Business GKCC Old Depositors Association
President Dushanthi Hapugoda said they need a dynamic director board to
handle this holding company as it consists of various companies.
The association has requested not to sell the current assets since if
they sell the controlling shares of these assets are not with the
depositors. Therefore, the depositors suggested to setup this company
with a dynamic management appointed by the President, Central Bank
Governor and 10 depositors.
This will enable, the company to nurture well during in a years time
so that the depositors as the shareholders will have a better value for
their shares, she said. This is a good move by the Government to
safeguard the Golden Key depositors, she said. The depositors are liable
for Rs 26 billion. |
