VB finals and awards Oct 16 and 17

The finals and the awards presentation ceremony of the 31st Youth Services and Rupavahini Challenge, Volleyball Tournament will be held on October 16 and 17 at 6 p.m. at the Youth Centre Indoor Stadium, Maharagama.


The Youth Affairs Deputy Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage explaining the arrangements of the 31st Youth Service Rupavahini Challenge super league and the Rupavahini Youth Clubs Challenge Tournament to be held on October 16 and 17 at the National Youth Centre, Maharagama. The Chairman Director General Lalith Pum Perera and the Secretary to Sri Lanka Youth Clubs Federation Thilianga Madugalla also present. Wehelle Piyathilaka, Maharagama Special Corr.

This volleyball festival consists of two volleyball tournaments namely, Youth Services-Rupavahini Challenge Championship Super League Volleyball Tournament and Rupavahini Youth Clubs Challenge Championship Volleyball Tournament.

The Rupavahini Youth Clubs Volleyball tournament will be held on 16 at 6 p.m. Kurunegala District and Kalutara district women's teams qualified for the finals. Nearly 1,500 teams participated at the tournament in provincial and district levels.

The men's finals will be played between Gampaha district and Kegalle district teams.

Prizes and trophies

The champions (men and women) will get Rs 50,000 and the championship trophy. First runner-up will get Rs 30,000, 3rd place Rs 20,000 and 4th place Rs 10,000.

The Best Player (men and women) Rs 25,000 each and special award will be presented to the Best Dasher and Best Setter.

Youth Services and Rupavahini Volleyball tournament on October 17 at 6 pm.

52 men's teams and 28 women's teams took part in the tournament. Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force men's teams qualified for the finals and Youth Services and Mawathagama SSC were qualified for the women's finals.

Prizes and trophies

Champions (men and women) Rs 150,000 in cash and trophy. First runner-up Rs 100,000 (each), 3rd place Rs 50,000 and 4th Place Rs 25,000.

Best Players (men and women) will get Rs 100,000 in cash and a special award. The Best Dasher (men and women), Best Setter (men and women), Best Server (men and women), Best Defence (men and women) will be presented with special awards.

The awards ceremony will be conducted under the patronage of Youth Affairs Minister Dullas Alahapperuma and Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, in association with Youth Affairs Deputy Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Chairman of Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and Deputy Minister Dilan Perera, the Chairman of Rupavahini Corporation Sarath Kongahage and the Chairman, Director General, NYSC Lalith Pium Perera.
