Kegalle Marians win

St. Mary's College, Kegalle opened their inter-school cricket season on a winning note when they beat Carey College, Colombo by six wickets in their inter-school cricket match played at Mount Mary grounds, Dematagoda.

The Marians were set a victory target of 68 in 50 overs and they reached their target with 30 overs to spare.

Chief scores

Carey College 107 all out in 35.2 overs (A. Ratnasuriya 37, C. Mapatuna 20, A. Dilshan 12, Christopher Denipitiya 2 for 20, C. Karunaratne 4 for 25) and 114 all out in 47.3 overs (T. Amila 23, T. Janananda 16, P. Caldera 31, A. Dilshan 17, Malinga Gunaratne 3 for 24, C. Karunaratne 2 for 17, V. Galdeniya 2 for 17).

St. Mary's College, Kegalle 154 all out in 39.5 overs (K. Galdeniya 43, I. Jayamanne 34, S. Opatha 16, C. Karunaratne 16, C. Mapatuna 5 for 59 T. Amila 2 for 38) and 70 for 4 wickets in 20 overs (Malinga Gunaratne 31 not out, C. Denipitiya 23 not out, T. Amila 2 for 19).


GHS Colours award ceremony

The Colours Awards Ceremony of Girls’ High School, Kandy will be held under the patronage of Minister of Sports C B Ratnayake on October 12 commencing at 2 pm at the Constance Mallet Hall.

Mrs Geetha Ratnayake will also be present on this occasion.


Isipatana well set

Isipatana College were well set to pull off an outright victory after dominating the opening days play in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Holy Cross College Kalutara which began at the BRC ground in Havelock Park yesterday.

Isipatana: 178 (D. Sandaruwan 23, D. Warapitiya 32, H. Thalindu 33, S. Vaas 5 for 37, K. Sashika 4 for 55)

Holy Cross: 52 (B. Nibandana 4 for 20, S. Sulochana 2 for 3, S. Vimukthi 3 for 3) and 1 for 1


Trinity in command

Nalanda College were struggling at 98 for 6 in reply to Trinity's first innings total of 325 runs on the opening day of their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which commenced at Panagoda yesterday.
