‘Unity in Diversity’ held in Killinochchi
A program titled ‘Unity in Diversity 2010’ was held at the Hindu
Vidyalaya in Killinochchi on October 1, International Children’s Day to
enable youth and students in the Northern Province to enjoy the benefits
of the Nena Guna Weduma Sisu Diriya (moral uplift) program implemented
under the direction of the President for the last four years.
A large number of youth and students of both sexes from Killinochchi,
Mullaitivu, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Mannar and Anuradhapura who are
beneficiaries of this program participated and conducted a series of
shows and exhibitions displaying their creative talents to entertain
thousands of teachers, parents, residents in the area and members of the
security forces who witnessed these events.
The dance items displayed by Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim students in
particular were specially eyecatching.
Sports events were also held at the Vidyalaya grounds and awards were
made to the winners. Irrigation and Water Management Deputy Minister S M
Chandrasena, Northern Province Governor G A Chandrasiri, Presidential
Social Development Director Nandana Wijesinghe and Killinochchi District
Secretary Rupavathie Ketheeswaran were also present. |
