Opening bowler Sadeem Thawfeeq snapped up four wickets for 10 runs to
put Wesley College in a commanding position on the opening day of their
inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Sri
Jayawardenapura MV which commenced at Campbell Park yesterday.
The right arm fast bowler rocked the Sri Jayawardenapura batting with
a hostile spell to leave them struggling at 29 for 5 after Wesley had
earlier compiled a competitive 210 runs in their first innings.

26, P. Madushanka 4 for 14, M. Illukwatte 2 for 20).

Josephians hit back
St. Joseph’s College after being bowled out for 120 runs hit back
strongly to reduce their opponents D. S. Senanayake College to 35 for 5
in their first innings on the opening day of their inter school under 19
cricket tournament match which commenced at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday.
Sahan Amarasinghe captured six wickets for 35 to help D. S.
Senanayake dismiss their opponents for 120 runs but their batsmen failed
to capitalize and collapsed against the pace of Dinal Dhambarage (3 for
24) and Chaturanga Kumara (2 for 7).

Sparkling century by Shihan
Opener Shihan Jainuddeen smashed a sparkling century as Zahira
College reached a healthy 177 for 3 in their first innings on the
opening day of their rain hit inter school under 19 cricket tournament
match against Mahanama MV which began at Maradana yesterday.
The dashing left hander reached his hundred from just 65 deliveries
inclusive of five sixes and a dozen of boundaries after they had been
put into bat following a delayed start.

Madushan wrecks Thurstan
Leg spinner Madushan Ravichandrakumar returned outstanding figures of
six wickets for 49 as S. Thomas’ College dismissed Thurstan College for
197 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their inter school
under 19 cricket tournament match which began at Mount Lavinia
yesterday.
However the Thomians failed to consolidate their position and lost
three early wickets before reaching a shaky 46 for 3 at stumps.
