Cader questions dual standards

Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is going round the country demanding a pardon for Sarath Fonseka who had committed misdemeanours while holding disciplinary inquiries against UNP Parliamentarians who had voted according to their conscience for the sake of the country is most ridiculous, said UNP Kandy district Parliamentarian A R M Abdul Cader.

A third party requesting pardon for a wrong doer when the latter keeps silent clearly displayed the wrongdoers pride, he said.

Cader said Sarath Fonseka has displayed his dishonesty and ingratitude by joining hands with the JVP neglecting nearly 3.8 million UNPers who supported him at the Presidential Elections.

People have clearly realized that Fonseka has been punished for his wrong doings rather than as an act of personal revenge. It would therefore be more advisable for the opposition leader to seek pardon for himself from UNP supporters for leading the party to political wilderness.
