Teen electrocuted while returning from carnival

A student returning from a carnival died of electrocution when he contacted a high powered electric wire fallen on the road in Pujapitiya, Welligalla Thursday at about 10pm.

The deceased is Chamika Niroshan, 17, an Advanced Level student at Kandy Sumangala College.

Galagedara Police said several students who accompanied Niroshan who were electrocuted are out of danger.

Residents of Marathugoda Welligalla told the Daily News that they had informed the Ceylon Electricity Board about the fallen electric wire but no action had been taken.
