National Dengue Control Week:
Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces dengue high risk areas

Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces have been identified as dengue
mosquito high risk areas, a Health Ministry spokesman said.
Officials detected 2,317 places with dengue mosquito larvae during
inspections conducted under the National Dengue Control Week. Officials
discovered 6,878 high risk places while they also issued notices to
1,554 places and warned owners of 7,867 places, the spokesman said.
Western Province has 344 places with dengue mosquito larvae while
there were 1,038 possible dengue mosquito breeding places and 1,602 high
risk places. Notices were issued to 221 persons.
In the Sabaragamuwa Province there were 833 places with dengue
mosquito larvae and 2,215 high risk places. There were 1,365 possible
dengue mosquito breeding places and notices were issued to 278 persons.
The number of places discovered with dengue mosquito larvae in the
Southern Province was 205. There were 1,797 high risk places and 796
dengue mosquito breeding places. Notices were issued to 182 persons, the
spokesman said.
Two hundred and thirty eight places with dengue mosquito larvae were
discovered from the North Central Province. There were 1,328 high risk
places and 834 possible dengue mosquito breeding places. Notices were
issued to 184 persons in the province. Dengue mosquito larvae were found
in 165 places in the Eastern Province while there were 1,329 high risk
places. The number of possible dengue mosquito breeding places were
6,985. Notices were issued to 156.
In the North Western Province there were 403 places with dengue
mosquito larvae, 2,649 high risk places and 1,877 possible dengue
mosquito breeding places.
The total number of places inspected were 11988.
Today is the third day of the National Dengue Control Week and all
households will be inspected. |
