The Colombo city tour with its increasing popularity now operates a series of exciting city tours and special packages in and around Colombo. Colombo City Tour with some foreign guests

The CCT, the first ever open deck 'hop on' city tour in Colombo, is an endeavor to enhance and enrich the touristic experiences the city has to offer. This is a unique project initiated by the Sri Lanka Tourism together with Ebert Silva Holidays.

The city tours encompass most of Colombo with also panoramic views including that of the harbour area, Fort and the breathtaking stretch of Galle Face, catching a glimpse on top the open deck of the new developments in the harbor. It also covers the Beira 'spill' and the magnificent buildings along the road as Pelicans - escapees of the zoo, according to the expert guide commentary; fly close to the upper deck of the Colombo City Tour bus.

The travellers are delighted by the informative commentary of the professional National Guides of the Colombo City Tour. This live commentary in English is an interesting narration on what one rushes past by everyday, not knowing and realizing the significance and importance they extend to the history of the city of Colombo.

Among the exciting re-discoveries are some of the facts such as the Clock Tower in Colombo was built three years before the Big Ben of London. The Clock Tower is located on Chatham Street, for which the sketch was drawn by the wife of Governor Henry Ward in 1854. Many are surprised to know that the Dutch named the 'Wolfendaal Street' meaning the 'dale of the wolves', in present Kotahena, after mistaking the foxes in what was a wooded jungle area for wolves!

The new tour itinerary also includes interesting visits to the refurbished National Museum for one hour. Fifteen minute stops are made at Wolfendaal Church - an important part of Colombo's Dutch history, the picturesque Gangarama Seema Malakaya and the Independence Square among others. Tickets are available at all Colombo city hotels and they also include the entrance fee at the National Museum, snacks and a bottle of mineral water served on board.

The latest addition on the Colombo City Tour the 'Kids Fun Tour', happens every Saturday evening, and is much looked forward to by kids and their parents alike.

It is an exciting sightseeing tour with the highlight of a breathtaking 'helicopter view' from the 28 floor of the Bank of Ceylon Tower together with a fun-filled evening at P. G. Martin Wonderworld, Rajagiriya. The Bank of Ceylon joins hands with the Colombo City Tour extending special offers to BOC 'Ran Kekulu' and credit card holders on the Kids Fun Tour. The Colombo City Tour has many more exciting tours lined up for the coming months with plans to increase the number of days operated per week on popular request.
