Loans to get power connections

A Rs 30,000 loan for low income family members to get electricity have been introduced by the Economic Development Ministry.

This facility will be provided to all Samurdhi beneficiaries and families that cannot meet expenses for the power connection.

The loan will be valid for six months and during that period no interests or instalments will be charged. After six months, the loan can be paid through their monthly light bills with a low interest rate. Borrowers can settle the loan within 48 instalments. This loan scheme was introduced to provide electricity to all families, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said.
