Dengue prevention week:

Over 2,000 dengue breeding grounds found

At the national Dengue prevention week which got under way islandwide yesterday, focus was directed at sites and locations that ran the highest risk of dengue Mosquito Breeding according to the health Ministry National Dengue Prevention Unit.

According to reports received by the unit a total of 11,988 such sites came under close inspection and of them 6,978 locations were identified as possible dengue mosquitoes breeding grounds while another 2,317 sites were found to be harbouring the vector.

Instructions were issued to 7,867 persons who had failed to keep their surroundings clean while notice was issued on 1,554 others.
