Satyagraha marked more by absentees

A satyagraha was held opposite the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy yesterday afternoon by a group of Buddhist monks.

It was organized jointly by the UNP and the JVP to demand the release of Sarath Fonseka.

While the participation did not exceed 50, none of the monks represented any main temple in the Central Province.

Not a single parliamentarian either from the UNP or the JVP participated at the event. Present were only few UNP and JVP Central Provincial Council members and a few local leaders of both parties.
