School restricted to name board

Bopitiya Rajasinghe National School in Marassana, about 25 kilometres off Kandy is in a neglected state and seems to be restricted to the name board only.

There is no proper drinking water facility to nearly 900 students attending the school and its toilet facilities are in a horrible condition.

All the school buildings are in a dilapidated state needing urgent repairs and the electricity supply to the school has been disconnected.

The school playground is in a deplorable state and unsuitable for any sports activities. Although this is a national school it has no telecommunication facilities either.

The laboratory facilities are somewhat satisfactory but the four acre school compound has no security fence or wall for its protection.

Parents request the education authorities to upgrade the facilities of this school in keeping with its national status.
