Aviation oil provision soaring

The supply of aviation oil (Jet A) to aeroplanes coming to the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport has gone up by 30 percent when compared with the preceding year, Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

He said after eradicating terrorism the number of aeroplanes coming to the country has gone up with the increase of tourist arrivals, a communique issued by the Petroleum Industries Ministry said.

In an inspection tour at the Petroleum Corporation oil storage complex at the Airport, the Minister said nine more yards will be constructed in the Airport to facilitate the increasing number of planes to Katunayake.

He said action will be taken to purchase oil from the world oil market and provide oil for the people at concessionary rates.
