The Mahaweli Authority has taken measures to rent out 200 acres for investors willing to start commercial agriculture projects.

Under the program, Maduru Oya dam, lands near Welikanda and Aranaganwila cities will be provided for investors, a Mahaweli Authority spokesman said.

He said investors should use ground water for their cultivations. Priority will be given for BOI accepted agriculture businessmen, the people who pay income tax and companies in selecting investors.

Investors should deposit one million rupees at the Mahaweli Authority.

This money will be refunded after two years if the authority satisfied with the progress of investors during the period.
