They emerge carrom champs

Colombo Royal College (Men) and Anula Vidyalaya (Women) clinched the championship title of under 19 All island carrom tournament conduced to coincide with the All Island School Sports festival 2010. The tournament was held at St. John’s College, Nugegoda on September 18, 19 and 20.

There were 4 events included in the tournament-under 15 (Girls), under 15 (Boys), under 19 (Girls) and under 19 (Boys).

22 schools took part in the 4 events of the tournament. The interest in this tournament was that after 30 years schools from the North and East also participated in all these events.

The results of the events are as follows.

Under 15 (Girls)

1. Visakha High Girls (Badulla), 2. Viharamahadevi Balika (Badulla), 3. Visakha Balika Vidyalaya (Colombo)

Under 15 (Boys)

1. St. John’s College (Nugegoda), 2. Royal College (Colombo), 3. Isipathana Vidyalaya (Colombo).

Under 19 (Boys)

1. Royal College (Colombo), 2. Ananda Vidyalaya (Colombo), 3. Gnanodaya Maha Vidyalaya (Wariyapola).

Under 19 (Girls)

1. Anula Vidyalaya (Nugegoda), 2. All Saints Convent (Borella), 3. St. Joseph’s Girls School (Kegalle).
