Only 135 minutes of play was possible on the first day of the inter-school cricket match between Kingswood College and Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala which began at the University Grounds, Peradeniya yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30am.

Following wet ground conditions the match was off to a late start as play got underway only at 10.15am and stopped for lunch at 12.30pm.

But heavy rain fell from 1pm onwards and play could not be resumed till the two umpires called off the game at 5pm when heavy showers fell and the light conditions deteriorated. Devans batting first scored 113 for 7 in 37 overs leg-spinner Lakshitha Madushan took 4 for 42.
