Janaka, Nishantha and Kodituwakku impress at National Sailing

The Janashakthi National Sailing Championship organized and conducted
by the Bolgoda Ceylon Motor Yacht Club and sponsored by Janashakthi for
the ninth consecutive year with the CMYC being the host club was held
last Saturday and Sunday at Bolgoda.
The championship witnessed, W P K Janaka, W A R Nishantha and T T B
Kodituwakku from the Navy, being most impressive to win their events
convincingly. All three of them have exercised a measure of consistency
and are progressing to be a force to be reckoned with.
Noteworthy performances also came from Kimberly Karpinski, Radheeka
Jirasinha, Devin Goonewardene and Viren Dias.
There were around twenty five boats vying for championship honours in
the different category of boats viz; optimist class (under 15 years of
age) Laser Class 4.7 (under 19 years of age) Laser Standard Class,
Enterprise Class and GP 14 Class.
Since the championship enjoyed national status, it was organized and
conducted on the lines of an international regatta, governed by the IYRU
rules and in conformity with the local YASL Sailing Instructions.
The winners in these events were;
Optimist class (Under 15 years of age)
Winner - Kimberly Karpinski (Lycium International)
1st runner up - Per Fedrick (British College)
2nd runner up - Joshua Jayaratne (Colombo International)
Laser class 4.7 (Under 19 years of age)
Winner - Radheeka Jirasinha (Ladies College)
Laser Standard Class
Winner - T T B Kodituwakku (Sri Lanka Navy)
Enterprise Class
