‘Police should be more polite’

Traffic Police should be more polite and they should use descent language in dealing with the public,Police Senior DIG Gamini Navarathna said. He was addressing police officers who completed the 12 th senior traffic management course conducted by the Traffic Police at the police headquarters’ auditorium yesterday.

Around 40 police inspectors and sub inspectors including two woman sub inspectors who passed out with promotions were awarded certificates and badges at the function.

DIG Nawarathna said there are more than 2,000 road deaths annually. Traffic officers should study the areas they are deployed and should take action to minimize accidents.

Traffic officers are trained spending a large amount of funds and they should work as people friendly and efficient officers, since their commands are supposed to be the law in roads.
