Hotels with unhygienic food raided

The Kandy Municipal Council Medical Unit raided 50 hotels and food outlets in the Kandy city yesterday and detected some food items available at 25 hotels are not suitable for consumption and kitchens are dirty.

Kandy Chief food inspector H.S. Wijetunga said some hotel owners have been issued warning letters earlier and legal action will be taken against them.

Kandy Chief Helath Medical officer Y.M. Yapa, Public Health Officers, Kandy police Environment Unit OIC Inspector Y.P. Malalasekera and police officers conducted the raid.
