The Youth filled with innovative ideas are needed to lift Sri Lanka
as the miracle of Asia, Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa
said. He said not only subject knowledge but also vocational training is
important to face challenges outside the school gates.
“Knowledge becomes the capital cost and innovative ideas become money
in the future. It is easy to achieve future economic goals of the
country if new entrepreneurs emerge. When students leave the school they
must have trained some kind of skill. Therefore schoolchildren must be
provided opportunities to attain vocational training while schooling” he
said.
He was addressing the concluding ceremony of “De Abimani Wayamba
Udanaya” Agricultural, Industrial, Educational and Commercial Exhibition
and Festival held from September 23 to 26 at the Pannala National
School. “Sri Lanka is rich in natural beauty. A number of plans have
been made to draw foreign exchange using this natural beauty. Through
this exhibition we hope to guide the youth towards using innovative and
modern technology for agricultural and industrial sectors. It will also
help them to build a stable income” he said.
The exhibition was organized as a strategic approach to achieve
development goals of the country by the Pannala Divisional Secretariat.
