Regional coaching course for South and Central Asian Women
The mission of the FIFA Women's Football section is to promotion and
the development of women's football. FIFA pledges support for women's
football financially to give women players, coaches, referees and
officials the opportunity to become actively involved in football. FIFA
is helping to popularize the game by increasing public awareness by
conducting information campaigns as well as overcoming social and
cultural obstacles for women with the ultimate aim of improving women's
standing in society.
In keeping up to its mission FIFA initiated a Coaching course in
Colombo, with the co-operation of FIFA Development Officer headed by
Manilal Fernando and Football Federation of Sri Lanka with a
participation of 24 men and women Coaches from 12 affiliated countries.
Eight SAFF countries Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives,
Afganistan, Bhutan, Nepal while the other countries arrived for the
program are Kyrgistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Usbekistan.
FIFA Course Instructors Ms Belinda Wilson {Australia), Ms Monika
Staab (Germany) and Course Consultant Valery Chukhriy (Russia) is in the
island to conduct this course.
President of FFSL and member of Parliament Sarath Weerasekara, was
the chief guest at the opening ceremony while CEO, FFSL Chrysantha
Perera welcomed the delegation on behalf of the FIFA Office Colombo and
the Member Associations.
The lectures will be conducted at the Football House auditorium and
the practicals will be done at the City Football Complex, Slave Island.
The program xis co-ordinated by Olivia Gamage, Chairperson Women's
Football and Jayani Pinnawela Advisor to the Ministry of Sports will be
the chief guest for the closing ceremony. |
