Irrigation project to be launched

The dam safety and water resources planning project will renovate the Dambuluoya and Kandalama Reservoir.

The main objectives of the project are improving dam safety and operational efficiency. The project will attend to dam defects and other renovations. The program involves uprooting of bushes and removing of risky dead trees from the dam, repairing the rip rop, repairing of sluice barrel, re-construction of the drain extending of the gabion wall over highly eroded edges of the dam.

The Government has allocated Rs 64 million and the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
