Best Corporate Citizens Awards in November
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce hosts the Best Corporate Citizens
Awards 2010 at the Cinnamon Grand on November 3. The awards ceremony,
celebrating its seventh consecutive year, hopes to raise awareness on
the importance of CSR and Strategic Corporate Sustainability to the
business community and to promote and encourage these practices among
the corporate sector.
Prof Mohan Munasinghe will be the keynote speaker for this year's
Awards. Prof Munasinghe was the co-laureate of the 2007 Nobel Prize for
Peace, as the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-AR4)
Vice Chair. Currently, he is the Munasinghe Institute of Development
(MIND) Chairman, UK's Manchester University Sustainable Development
Professor and Honorary Senior Advisor to the Sri Lanka Government.
In addition to the Ten Best Corporate Citizens, Category awards for
the best performers in each of the five areas of evaluation -
Environment, Employee Relations, Customer and Supplier Relations,
Community Relations and CSR and Governance and Economic Contribution,
the second runner-up, first runner-up and Winner of the "Best Corporate
Citizens Award" (both category A - companies with a turnover of Rs 10 b
or over and category B companies with a turnover less than 10 b, will
qualify for these awards), three awards for organizations under the
"Less than 10 b turnover" category, three awards for Best overall
Special Projects and Certificates of merit for all projects that achieve
a minimum specified standard will also be awarded.
