In Netherlands, where the martial artists could have a lot of
experience in Karate, Kick boxing and other fighting disciplines, the
participants of the programs had the opportunity to take part in several
training sessions and the Lankan fighters were also involved in teaching
new Karate exercises and Kick boxing to several Dutch fighters and
students.
Priyantha Rajapakshe is the Sri Lanka Branch Chief in the Ashihara
International Karate Organization since 2008, appointed by the
international technical board of Ashihara Karate and Udeni Rangama is
the secretary of the Sri Lanka branch headquarters in Kurunegala.
This opportunity was given to the two Lankan martial artists as a
result of the long term relationship between Rajapakshe and master Dave
Jonkers and his student Semmy Schilt.
The goal of the three months visit is to lift the standard of the
sport in Sri Lanka including improving standards of weight training,
medical rehabilitation exercises, endurance training and to introduce
new trends in sport for the development of Health and Budo Center in
Kurunegala and affiliations. CW |
