Central Schools sports festival on September 26

The Sports Festival organized by the All Island Central Schools Past Pupils Association will be held on September 26 at Old Steel Corporation grounds, Athurugiriya to coincide with the 41st commemoration ceremony of late Dr C W W Kannangara.

The sports festival includes the final matches of the Twenty20 cricket tournament participated by 36 Central Colleges. It is significant that schools such as Jaffna Central and Kattankudy Central are taking part in the cricket tournament representing the North and the East.

Among the other events are the semi-finals and finals of men’s and women’s volleyball and netball tournaments.

The champions and runners-up teams will be awarded Rs 50,000 and Rs 35,000 in addition to the challenge trophies.

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena will be the chief guest.
