Bogus job agency raided

Two people including a woman have been taken into custody by the Special Investigations Unit of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and the Thalangama police in line with the ongoing operations to nab bogus foreign employment agencies.

The suspects have been taking money for a long period from foreign job seekers through this bogus foreign employment agency.

On a tip-off, the police and Special Investigation Unit officers raided the bogus agency at Maradana, Colombo on Tuesday.

The officers found five bogus stamps and documents used by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) in the agency.

The investigating officers believe that the bogus stamps have been used by the suspects to send females abroad who have not received a training or registered with the SLBFE.

The two suspects were produced before Maligakanda Magistrate who ordered that woman suspect be remanded till September 27. The mail suspect was granted bail.
