Korea helps children needing heart surgeries

A Korean donor delegation has extended financial assistance to
children who need heart surgeries in Sri Lanka. They offered Rs1 million
to five children warded at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Colombo under the
first phase of the program, a Health Ministry spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, the delegation comprising Young Bok Lee,
Choi Yeong Chang and Bark Yong Bae visited Lady Ridgeway Hospital and
offered financial assistance to five children who require heart
surgeries urgently. They were selected from the waiting list.
There are around 1,500 children in the waiting list. The hospital
performs around 500 heart surgeries every month. A large number of child
heart patients are added to the waiting list daily.
The Korean delegation will continue to assist more children who need
heart surgeries. NG
