Korea donates rice for N-E civilians

First consignment of 1,000 bags of rice:

The Korean Food Association has donated a consignment of rice for distribution among people displaced by the North East conflict.

The first consignment of this donation consisting 1,000 bags of rice was symbolically handed over to Prime Minister D M Jayaratne by a delegation of the Korean Food Association led by Choi Yong Wang at Visumpaya, Colombo on Wednesday.

A press release by the Prime Minister’s office said the Prime Minister thanked the Korean Food Association for its kind gesture and said the North and East devastated due to the conflict were now undergoing rapid development under the government’s initiative assisted by several foreign countries and organisations including Korea.
