This is probably what enchanted the audience in Danny Boyle's award
globally acclaimed movie Slumdog Millionaire. The film relates a story
of a penniless youth who takes part in a reality TV game show and
emerges the winner of millions of bucks. Now imagine Lucky Dias
replacing the role of Anil Kapoor and yourself in the hot seat which was
previously occupied by Dev Patel. That is what you get in Sirasa TV's
newest reality television program Obada Lakshapathi Mamada Lakshapathi.
The program roots out of the popular UK game show Who Wants to Be a
Millionaire. It had been reproduced in over 100 countries in diverse
languages. For the first time in local television history, a franchise
show is being produced. Rs 18 million will be up for grabs.
The first episode of the program went on air on September 18 at 9
p.m. Going by the rules of the television game show Obada Lakshapathi
Mamada Lakshapathi too revolves around the viewer's general knowledge on
diverse fields. Arts, culture, geography, science, history, sports and
current affairs will fall under this category. A contestant who gives
the correct answers for all 15 questions will bag two million rupees.
"The program values the knowledge of Sri Lanka's higher literacy
rate," Sirasa TV Creative Director and Obada Lakshapathi Mamada
Lakshapathi Executive Producer Nilendra Deshapriya said. |
