'Jump'ing for joy
The Korean performers kept the audience glued to their seats and
aawing and oohing over their activities when the non-verbal, comic
martial arts performance JUMP too to the stage at Ananda College last
week.
JUMP was put together by the Korean Embassy in Sri Lanka and National
Heritage and Cultural Affairs Ministry.
Set in a typical Korean home, JUMP is centered on a dramatically
agile, Korean family from the authoritarian grandfather, drunken uncle
and Taekwondo-hopping mother to the incongruous daughter's suitor. When
the family discovers the intruders, a mighty battle ensues. What follows
is an incredible display of acrobatic and martial arts skills, with a
large amount of slapstick humour. Our photographer Sumanachandra
Ariyawansa captured these thrilling moments of the event. |
