The channel has an added treat for their fans. They will hand over Rs.
10, 000 to their listeners each day. The competition will go on for
three months. Three songs will be aired on the channel and listeners are
requested to predict the line-up via SMS. The winner will be selected
from the correct guesses.
According to Jimmy the media industry in Sri Lankan is somewhat
stagnant. There are around 60 FM channels in the isle and 10 of them are
English. Most function in a similar manner. They is no drastic
difference between them.
“Copying each other will not develop the industry. They should come
with different concepts to update the field. Real radio draws a line
with the others as they try to present something new,” Deean said also
adding that though the channel is three years young, listeners feel that
they have existed for a much longer period.
“That is because we try to bring a worthwhile difference to the
industry. The industry should know where it is heading. It is struck
because of the lack of new concepts,” he noted.
He says that a radio presenter needs to be informative. Mastering
voice techniques is an added bonus. Quipped with 19 years of experience
in the field, Deean appreciates his team for their support and loyalty.
The Real team comprises mostly of youths between 20 to 28 years.
Deean stresses that their creativity is beyond his expectations. He has
much hope pinned on them to take the industry to a higher level. |
