Namal commended for visiting Kilinochchi
Parliamentarian Sri Ranga on Monday commended Hambantota District MP
Namal Rajapaksa for visiting Kilinochchi regularly and looking into the
needs of the innocent people there despite him being a member
representing a Southern most electorate. Peoples representatives should
always endeavour to make the people victorious by catering to their
common needs without trying to work according to their own personal
agendas, he said.
Sri Ranga expressed these sentiments when he joined a group of MPs
led by Namal Rajapaksa on a visit to Killinochchi to look into the needs
of resettled people who had faced untold hardship owing to the thirty
year war.
Sri Ranga said apart from peoples representatives the unstinted
support of the people was also essential for the success of speedy
development programs launched by the Government in their regions
battered by a thirty year war.
He said children of certain TNA Parliamentarians did not undergo any
suffering due to the war because they studied in India or UK at that
time. However as Parliamentarians they should treat other people's
children as their own.
It was the bounden duty of members who got elected to Parliament
through the votes of people subjected to the war to visit their areas
and cater to their needs as a matter of priority. He said the things the
country lost on account of the war cannot be regained in a matter of few
day. It would take sometime to recover them and regain life as the
necessary plans are now in place.
Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa said as MPs their endeavour was to
come to the aid of people who underwent suffering owing to the war
rather than trying to cash-in on their votes. Parliamentarians
Chandrakumar, Uditha Lokubandara, Kanaka Herath and Shehan Semasinghe
were also present on the occasion.
