Sanjeevani, Sampath win walking races

Sanjeevani Athavuda (Kurunegala) and Sampath Appuhamy (Gampaha) won
the championship title of the walking races (over 20) conducted by the
National Youth Services Council at Kurunegala to coincide with the 22nd
Youth Sports Festival.
The competitions were held at the Kurunegala Welagedara stadium
recently.
Under 20 (men) 10 km: 1. N. Dinesh Sampath (Matara), 2. D. W. Pradeep
Madushanka (Hambantota), 3. Sampath Sandaruwan Seneviratne (Kegalle).
More than 400 sportsmen and sportswomen participated at the races.
For the first time in the sports history of the NYSC sportsmen and
sportswomen from the North and East also participated. The winners will
be rewarded at the 22nd National Youth Sports Festival to be held in
Jaffna Doraiyappa Stadium in October.
P. D. Dayani (Matara) and Dinesh Sampath (Matara) secured the first
places in women and men under 20 walking race.

Under 20 (women) (5 km): 1. P. D. Dayani (Matara), 2. K. M. Indira (Moneragala),
