Tiger in danger of fall
Tiger Woods was in danger of losing his five-year grip on golf’s
world number one ranking to Phil Mickelson or Steve Stricker in Monday’s
last round of the PGA Deutsche Bank Championship. Woods fired a
two-under par 69 on Sunday to share 23rd place and trail leader Jason
Day of Australia by 10 strokes after 54 holes
Australia’s Jones at ease
Australia’s triple Olympic champion Leisel Jones said Friday she has
no security or health concerns about competing at next month’s New Delhi
Commonwealth Games.
Jones, who will be defending her Commonwealth 100/200m breaststroke
crown at the October 3-14 Games
Tomizawa dies after crash
Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa died from injuries sustained in a crash
in the San Marino Moto2 Grand Prix here on Sunday.
The 19-year-old came off his Suter bike when under pressure from the
fast charging Italian Alex de Angelis. Neither de Angelis nor British
rider Scott Redding were able to avoid hitting Tomizawa.
Emotional Vlasic leads
World champion Blanka Vlasic led Europe to victory at the Continental
Cup Sunday, but was unable to ride an emotional wave of hometown support
in her latest assault on the high jump world record.
Vlasic equalled her season-best leap of 2.05 before attempting to
clear 2.10m |
