ICBT Campus holds graduation ceremony
ICBT Campus, one of the leaders in the private higher education
sector in Sri Lanka conferred British Higher National Diplomas,
Undergraduate Degrees and Masters level qualifications to over 700
students in a graduation ceremony held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium
on August 26.
The graduation ceremony was held in association with UK, Middlesex

Mobitel holds SMART Draw
The selection of the winner of the Smart recharge bonanza draw for
May 2010 was held recently in the presence of the representatives of

The grand prize of a Maruti Suzuki Alto Sportz car for the month went
to Sinnaiyha Punniyaseelan of Bandarawela.

Hutchison Telecom Sri Lanka launched their first ever consumer
promotion on September 1, 2010. The ‘Hutch Abisheka Reload Senakeliya’
will give away prizes to every Hutch winner. Among these is a Sports
Utility Vehicle (SUV).
The promotion which will run right upto the end of 2010 will see
everyone connected to Hutch gaining an opportunity to emerge victorious,
because in addition to their customers, Hutch has opened the competition
to retailers and dealer sales representatives who will also win prizes
at various levels. Dealer sales representatives stand to win motor
cycles and lap tops whilst the retailers will win Maruti cars, trips
abroad, mobile phones, fax machines and reloads.
The Hutch customers who are the main beneficiaries of this promotion
will win a whole range of prizes such as gas cookers, mobile phones,
T-shirts, caps, gold coins, flat TV’s, trips abroad, and the SUV as the
grand prize.

Child war victims:
SLT employees provide scholarships

Employees of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) awarded scholarships to 50
children who had lost one or both parents during the war. This is a
continuation of the “Apey Daruwo” program which was started last year,
during which scholarships were provided to a further 50 child war
victims. This was organized by the Co-Existence of Sri Lanka Telecom
Employees’ Alliance and contributions towards this were collected from
employees of Sri Lanka Telecom.
The children were presented with a gift pack consisting of books and
other essential items for their day to day life at school, and a fixed
deposit account of Rs 25,000 was opened for each child at Bank of
Ceylon.
The children will gain access to the funds once they reach 18 years
of age, until which time, SLT will remain as the custodians.
The children selected for the scholarships came from Kebithigollewa,
Padaviya, Medawachchiya, Killinochchi and Mannar. The main aim of this
program was to provide hope for a better and brighter future for these
children.
ComBank branches to open on Ramazan
The Commercial Bank of Ceylon will keep open more than 50 branches on
September 10, a statuary public and bank holiday on account of Eid Ul
Fitr (Ramazan).
Selected branches in the Colombo and Gampaha districts, the foreign
branch at the Head Office as well as branches in Batticaloa,
Chavakachcheri, Matale and Nawalapitiya will function on this day, in
addition to the Bank’s 25 Super Market Banking counters all over the
country and the seven 365-day banking centres in Colombo 07, Majestic
City, Ampara, Negombo, Galle City, Kandy City and Jaffna.
The branches that will stay open in Colombo and Gampaha Districts
include the branches in Wellawatte, Kollupitiya, Kotahena, Maharagama,
Borella, Nugegoda, Narahenpita, Battaramulla, Panchikawatte, Union
Place, Wattala, Dehiwala, Moratuwa, Nittambuwa, Kiribathgoda, Avisawella
and Piliyandala.
Deputy General Manager (Operations) Sanath Bandaranayake said the
bank consistently provides services on bank holidays for the benefit of
many corporate sector clients who need access to banking services and
for personal customers who may have urgent requirements.
“This service has been popular among our customers and we are happy
to be able to offer it in various parts of the country including the
North and the East,” he said.
The Bank will carry out all over-the-counter banking transactions
including opening of accounts and foreign currency sales for overseas
travel on this day.
