Abimansala for disabled soldiers

The 23rd Infantry Division of the Sri Lanka Army handed over Rs 10.1
million for the construction of the Abimansala, the “Wellness Resort”
conducted by the Sri Lanka Army in order to house disabled war heroes to
provide them lifelong care.
The 23rd Infantry Division raised the funds by organizing the second
“Brave Hearts” musical show in the Minneriya Infantry Square on August
28 with the support of the Eastern Security Forces Commander Major
General S. Udumalagala.
More than 50,000 spectators gathered at the ground to enjoy the
musical show where popular singers and dancing groups participated . The
musical show started at 8.30 pm and lasted for four hours.
Military Spokesman Brigadier UAB Madawala told the Daily News that
the construction of all the buildings at Abimansala including eight
independent houses and other common facilities have begun simultaneously
and have been completed up to laying of foundations.
He said the Abimansala at Anuradhapura is located at the Nuwara Wewa
lakeside and will be completed at a cost of approximately Rs 200
million. He added that it could accommodate 50 war heroes at a time.
