Constitutional amendments:

‘Govt can muster two thirds’

The Government can easily garner the two thirds majority in parliament to adopt the proposed constitutional amendments said Mass Media and Communication Minister and Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella.

The Minister said the UPFA achieved a convincing victory at the recently held general election by gaining 144 seats in Parliament which is very close to a two thirds majority.

Ever since more MPs have joined the government and several others have expressed support to it during the last few months enabling it to command a two third majority very easily.

Further more a few other opposition Parliamentarians too have promised support to the government to pass the proposed amendments.
