Appropriation Bill to be presented

Appropriation Bill for 2011 will be presented in parliament in the
third week of October for its first reading. The Budget 2011 will be
formulated with greater focus on the Government's responsibility to
transform the country as one of the emerging economies in Asia.
The budget aims the completion of mega development projects initiated
by the Government across the country, Finance and Planning Ministry
Spokesman said. Meanwhile, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed all
Ministers to handover information of all development projects carried
out by Ministries to the Treasury.
The Government would prepare budget proposals with a view to increase
State investments while targeting a double digit growth in the future.
It also plans to develop the agriculture sector as a measure to boost
economic growth while seeking to promote tourism as one of the main
source of income. The budget will also address the livelihood facilities
with other infrastructure in the North.
