Imagination vs reality

Dileepa Gunatilake is a self taught artist who had keen interest in
painting since childhood. She improved her talents by using different
media and substrates. She had won awards in many art competitions during
her school years but kept painting as a hobby until she finished higher
education. Presently she is a Bachelors and Masters Degree holder in
Biology and Plant Biotechnology from Colombo University.
Over the years she had drawn her inspirations from her surroundings.
Sometimes the images are real. Sometimes there are out of her
imaginations. Her versatility ranges from portraits to fine art oil
paintings or illustrations to modern art. She also practices digital art
techniques.

Dileepa has strong passion for beauty and diversity of nature. Though
most of her paintings are imaginative, they are close to nature,
highlighting the beauty of wild life, trees, waterways and livelihood of
people. She enjoys using any kind of medium such as pencils, pastels,
graphite, charcoal, and oil paints, Acrylics and even shoe wax / polish.
She took part in the Waitakere Trust Art Exhibition and had exhibited
her work at several art galleries and restaurants in New Zealand during
her short. Her paintings are among many private collectors in other
countries.
Sithuwam is her first solo exhibition. It is a result of a lifelong
dream. Dileepa is grateful to all the members of her family for makimg
this event possible. She also wishes to thank all those who have
extended their support in many ways to make her maiden exhibition a
fruitful event. Sithuwam will open for public viewing on August 20 from
4.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibition will continue till August 22 from
8.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Her work is also on display at
