Sokari at Elphinstone
Sokari, an old folk drama in Sri Lanka, which was formed according to
the rural traditions of shanthikarmas that were performed to Doddess
Paththini seeking fertility and prosperity, will be staged at
Elphinstone Theatre on September 2 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m.

The play which was performed throughout seven nights in the past will
be staged once again with a new actors enhancing the characteristics of
the play such as motion and makeup with special attention given for
background and costume designs as well.
Sokari runs for two hours and 30 minutes. It contains of ancient
characteristics that could be appreciable to everyone.
This play is directed by state award winning director Jaliya
Rajapakshe. The main organizer of the event is Jude Srimal. |
