Farah to run for England
England on Monday named an experienced team to take part in next
month's New Delhi Commonwealth Games including double European champion
Mo Farah. The 27-year-old, who struck gold over 5,000 and 10,000 metres
at the European Championships in Barcelona in July, will race over both
distances in India.
Denmark's Wozniacki wins
Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki easily beat Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 on
Monday in the final of the rain-hit WTA Rogers Cup, one of the last
tune-up events for the US Open. The 20-year-old Wozniacki defeated the
Russian in a Monday championship game which was pushed back a day after
heavy rains over the weekend.
McEwen axed from Australian team
Robbie McEwen has been sacked from the Australian road team to race
in the world championships in Australia in October, reports said on
Monday.
McEwen, ranked 44th on the last UCI world rankings and the winner of
12 stages of the Tour de France, said he was told of his axing by the
chairman of selectors.
Daly back again for Australian PGA
Colourful two-time major champion John Daly will play in the
Australian PGA Championship for a third consecutive year in December,
tournament organisers said on Monday.
The 44-year-old American, who won the 1995 British Open and 1991 and
is currently ranked 440 in the world. |
